Back to weaving

This is where I weave on a Sunday at our Textile Co-operative shop which is housed in a stone victorian building in the historic precinct of Oamaru. I'm weaving on an Ashford Jack loom. We also have a 60" Mecchia countermarche loom here too with a flying shuttle.
In the summer we get over a 100 visitors a day through our doors and we get to answer the same questions over and over again, but that's life and we get to meet some interesting people from all over the world. Some even buy our products to take back home. In the winter we get to wear lots of alpaca and wool because it's really chilly in our big stone building but at the moment we're basking in late summer heat. Summer finally arrived just as the trees are turning red and gold.

Sophia pulls some very strange expressions. She was just getting over the flu, I know how she feels, but she's much better now, eating well and chasing lots of moths and flies.

Two Kitties

Well family persuasion led to a trip to the SPCA where they are overloaded with cats and kittens.
One tiny little black kitten (very small for 14 weeks old) chose us and we also took home a little female tabby of the same age who was very shy. So meet Sophie and Ash. Although they came home with a touch of cat flu which made them very quiet for a few days, they are now feeling much better and have started to develop their own personalities. despite a 'funny' hip joint, Sophie the tabby can really get some speed up chasing her ball whilst Ash is the climber.
I'd forgotten how small but lively kittens are. But nothing sweeter than sleepy cats in your arms.
